A Landmark Partnership for Patient Safety
The African Pharmaceutical Network (APN) and International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) Africa Chapter sign an MoU to Strengthen Pharmacovigilance Systems in Africa. This partnership is aimed at strengthening efforts by the two organizations to invest in workforce development, policy transformation and improved surveillance systems in the pharmaceutical value chain in the continent.
This partnership comes at a critical time when there are growing concerns around patient safety and product quality in the continent. To uphold patient safety, there’s need for robust pharmacovigilance systems anchored on effective regulatory frameworks, competent and meaningfully engaged professionals and sustainable cross-disciplinary partnerships to optimize healthcare solutions. Guided by the work being done by the AU-3S, this partnership establishes a unique framework for collaboration among industry professionals drawn from experienced practitioners, young professionals, and industry stakeholders to monitor, assess and intervene to promote product safety.

International Society of Pharmacovigilance Africa Chapter (ISoP Africa Chapter) is an independent, non-profit group of ISoP members within and outside Africa who volunteer their time to advance pharmacovigilance in Africa. The chapter provides a platform for pharmacovigilance and patient safety experts, professionals, and enthusiasts to collaborate, network and contribute to the development of pharmacovigilance, patient safety and related issues in Africa through research, capacity building, trainings, conferences, webinars, and knowledge exchange.
